Tell us / show us on video (no more than 3 minutes long) and send the YouTube, Vimeo or Facebook link to ideas@abundant.africa.

COMPETITION RULES
Competition
- The Ideas for Africa Competition (“Competition”) is run by Abundant Africa (www.abundant.africa).
- The Competition details are available on www.abundant.africa (“the website”) and/or any of our social media accounts.
- By entering the Competition, you agree to be bound by these competition rules.
- We reserve the right to alter, postpone or cancel the competition if, in our sole discretion, the Competition is not capable of being conducted as specified. Any changes will be updated on www.abundant.africa.
Eligibility
- The competition is open to people between the ages of 18 and 35. To enter, you must be a resident of an African country and have a valid passport.
- Officers, employees, agents or contractors of Abundant Africa, its funders and contractors are not eligible to enter.
- We reserve the right to disqualify any entrant if we have reasonable grounds to believe that the entrant has breached any of the Rules, or if the entrant displays unacceptable behavior such as rudeness or abusiveness.
Competition details
- Each entrant must submit a response to oneof the six questions below:
- In your dream for Africa, what does work look like for young people?
- What changes would you make to your city to serve people, environment and productivity?
- What values within our faith and society could underpin an abundant Africa?
- What business ideas can you propose that will create jobs and improve the natural environment?
- If you were to create an innovative funding model for African entrepreneurs and innovators, what would it look like?
- How can we use the creative genius in Africa to build movements for a restorative economy?
- Entries will be accepted in the following formats:
Ideas in writing (no more than 500 words) submitted using email (ideas@abundant.africa)or posted on the website forum (https://abundant.africa/forums/forum/abundant-africa-forum/).
An original video (no more than 3 minutes in length). A video link (YouTube, Vimeo or Facebook) must be sent using email (ideas@abundant.africa)
- Entries must include a short bio about the entrant.
- Entries must be in English
- The Competition opens at 12:00 CAT on 16 January 2019 and closes 17:00 CAT 21 January 2019 after which no further entries will be accepted.
- Only one submission per entrant is permitted.
- A panel will be formed to judge each submission on the basis of the following criteria: (a) general response to the Idea; (b) creative quality; (c) values underpinning the idea; (d) sustainability; and (e) viability.
- The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The panel will select 2 entrants as winners. Each winner will receive the prize of an all-expenses paid trip to Malawi for a movement building camp on 29 and 30 January 2019.The prize is comprised of return flights from an African city to Malawi, meals, tuition, visa applications (where applicable) and airport shuttle in Malawi.
- The prize is not transferable. No alternative prize is available on the request of the winner. Should the prize be unavailable for any reason, we reserve the right to offer an alternative prize equal or more in value.
- By entering the Competition, you warrant that:
(a) all information submitted by you is true, current, complete and not misleading; and
(b) all material submitted by you (including any part of it) consists of your original work, has not previously been commercially published and distributed, and does not infringe any copyright, right of privacy or any other third-party rights and does not contain anything that is defamatory, obscene or otherwise unlawful or offensive.
- Your ideas will not be used by Abundant Africa, its funders or any associated contractors without your written consent.
- Abundant Africa, its funders, contractors and any other persons or organisations associated with the competition are not liable for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any person as a result of taking part (or not being able to take part) in the Competition or as a result of taking up (or not being able to take up) any competition prize.
- We shall be entitled to require Competition winners to take part in or co-operate with publicity or other promotional activity, including participating in a photo, video and/or film sessions.
